TRAVELLING - Driving to the Alps is fairly straight forward and French roads are much less busy that British motorways as a rule, with regular services with free parking. Of course with your kitchen on board you can make your own refreshments whilst having a break from driving. We estimate 12 hours to get from Calais to the Alps. You will need to be prepared for the long slow slog up the mountains with plenty of hairpin bends! We usually overnight just before the final ascent so that we tackle it fully refreshed in the morning. It will be necessary to carry snow chains. The slow drive is well worth the effort as the views are spectacular!!

CAMPSITES - Most ski resorts have campsites nearby, in some cases close enough to ski in and out. Almost all campsites operate a free ski bus themselves or are on the route of the local ski bus. Costs are surprising low and most offer boot rooms to store your skis and boots. A selection of campsites can be found here.
